Greenwich Peninsula

A bit different from the last few posts. The intention was to scout out the terrain in order to take some night-time photos of the buildings on Canary Wharf. I see these buildings going to and from work every day. They look brilliant at night. Took the camera along, of course, and this is the result.

Canary Wharf Buildings. I watched the first of these (the one with the point on top) going up in 1992-3 from my office window in Halstow Road, just off the Woolwich Road flyover.

I hadn't realised just how many folks moored their boats along this stretch of the Thames.

More boats. Looking downstream towards Woolwich. The Thames Barrier in the distance.

The Millenium Dome! Looking a bit neglected these days, though the infrastructure for handling tens of thousands of visitors is all intact.

One of the unusual pieces of Art along the walk. A slice through a ship.

Looking downstream again towards Woolwich. Shooters Hill and Oxlease Wood in the distance.
