Thames Embankments Walk

Was nice and sunny, but a bit chilly and windy. The route was crawling with runners getting in their last bit of training before the London Marathon next weekend.

Start at Tower Hill, cross the river by Tower Bridge. Walk westwards along the South Bank until you get to Westminster Bridge. Walk back along the North bank of the Thames, or get a tube to anywhere you fancy! Total time for full walk about 3 hours with occasional stops and diversions.

Ancient and Modern at the Tower of London.

HMS Belfast from Tower Bridge.

Tower Bridge. Did America *really* think they were buying this when they bought the old London Bridge?

Warehouses in Shad Thames. Very nice apartments now.

The Tower of London.

HMS Belfast again.

The rebuilt Globe Theatre.

The 'wobbly' footbridge from the Tate Modern Gallery to St Pauls Cathedral.
Call in here on the return journey, or make a diversion now.

Inside the Turbine Hall of the Tate Modern. "Rachel Whiteread has created a gigantic labyrinth-like structure entitled EMBANKMENT, comprising 14,000 casts of boxes".

The London Eye. Still going strong after 6 years.

Salvador Dali and the Eye.

Tower of Big Ben, and Houses of Parliament.

Back on the North side of the Thames: Cleopatra's Needle.

One of the Sphinxes guarding the Needle.
